Let Christmas be anew

Monday, December 14th, 2009

DSCI0049Frozen in time, he still greets Christmas.  He smile belies the chill that awaits memories refusing to be reframed by new experiences.  Even Frosty the Snowman melted; and, this one will, too.

So, long before Easter’s vigil there can be resurrection defying the Ghosts of Christmas’ Past.  What must be are new memories, intentionally made.  Moments created to be shared, so that they may be reinforced in their telling, and in their retelling lightening the burden of shadows long-cast.

Let Christmas be anew.

Kevin LaueThanks, CNN, for introducing me to Kevin Laue this morning.  His is a wonderful story.

I truly appreciate your televising this video.  Not only did it give us a break from the economy, the war, H1N1, and crime. It reminded us that triumph still trump tragedy.

I know that you could have changed the ending, cutting Kevin’s line, “I feel it’s my responsibility, and it’s an honor to do it – it’s actually a pleasure of mine to help others, – you know, to help others, to encourage them to do the same.  You gotta be honest, anything is possible.”  It makes a great Christmas statement!

The message we Christians share with the world this season has at its heart the mystery that nothing will be impossible with God. (Luke 2)
