This video does nothing for me. I want an inspiring few minutes where then or later I can relate God's word to my own life. But then I'm a old guy and continue to like contemporary service.

I'm sure I can search the World Wide Web and find parities that make any style of worship look this hollow. If those worshiping are just going through the motions then this is all any worship no mater the style will appear. People have to engage when they worship be they they leaders or the parishioners. Are we interacting with our worship service or just showing up because it's that time again?

Acknowledging that *social demons* actually exist is a good first step. In Africa, I know I fly the "in Africa" banner a lot, but they had no trouble recognizing, and naming the social demons for what they were, that and the not so-social demons, and especially the outright anti-social ones.
Pretending they don't exist, gives them power. Naming them is the first step.

Doug, thanks for the affirmation.

Among the challenges within many (if not most) United Methodist churches is to effectively educate Christians - and, seekers - that "true worship" is God-directed and focused and not an experience from which we first ask, "What did *I* get out of this?"

Our culture continues to condition us to think that our gratification should be the consequence of our efforts. That clearly contradictory to the Gospel and living as a Christ-follower.
